Description & Location

The Hotel Barracuda is situated on the enchanting bay of Marina di Campo, on the southern part of Elba.

The hotel, which has recently been renovated, started life in the 60s, instituted by Pietro Sala the professional sportsman and athletics trainer with Fausto Coppi’s cycling team. It was the great champion cyclist Coppi himself who during a visit to the island fell in love with the gulf of Marina di Campo.

The Hotel

The hotel started life on 18th September 1962, and was built in the typical style of the Elban buildings of the time. The initial building consisted of two floors and 15 rooms

Love of and dedication to hospitality the winning cards that have always been a main feature of the Hotel Barracuda.

Hotel Barracuda’s is a unique story, characterized by the love for an island and the response that the natural beauties of the bay of Marina di Campo were able to convey in the early 1980s.

It was at this time that the Family di Biase, following the sale of a vast land in southern Italy, decided to realize its big dream by acquiring what was in the beginning a small Bed & Breakfast with few rooms in Marina di Campo.

At the beginning Hotel Barracuda was simply a residence in typical local style, which had just fifteen rooms.

A few years after the purchase a real transformation of the hotel began, which over the years lead to continuous improvements, always dictated by the desire to offer guests a unique experience full of emotions.

In 2003 the new owner completely renovated the hotel, enlarging the building with the addition of a third floor of spacious suites, a lobby, a games room, and a conference room.
The renovation work was entrusted to a local man, Fausto Auditore, who was asked to redesign and renew the hotel’s image. Today the hotel can offer its guests many much valued services.

A large plot surrounding the hotel was bought and transformed into a tropical garden; the electrolysis pool, today the only one in Marina di Campo, and a hot tub, in the shadow of the Eucalyptus trees, were built; and, finally, the number of rooms was increased to fifty-two, including large suites that complete the third floor of the building.

Lucio’s passion for nature and its essences has produced a small natural reserve, where native and tropical plants live in harmony, spreading the aromas of nature in the air.

Finally, the hand of a renowned Milanese architect has given the unique and contemporary style that characterizes the hotel.

The continuous improvements and the many redevelopment projects have completely transformed the structure, leading it to be awarded 4 stars in 2017

The lounge in the garden is the best place to start the day and enjoy a sun-kissed good morning relax.

Having breakfast by the pool, a bird singing in the background and fresh morning air enriched by the scent of pines is the scene that will accompany your awakening.

THE GRILL BAR

The pool restaurant overlooks the garden, rich with Mediterranean palms and essences.

Sitting at the tables, in the shade of a pickled wooden pergola, lunch is served from 1.00 pm.

The cuisine is based on the freshness and quality of local ingredients and inspired by Mediterranean tradition.

This corner is the perfect place for a light lunch after a morning at the beach or for an aperitif before dinner, accompanied by one of the many à la carte drinks.

It is here that guests will enjoy the results of local farmers and seafood specialties.

Bathing suit and sunglasses is all you need while chasing goblets of our selected wines.

Let yourself be tempted by the delights of authentic Italian cuisine interpreted by our chef, Bruno di Peco, with us for over thirty years.

A joy for all the senses on a journey through the flavours of Tuscany, which rediscovers local traditions and reinterprets them with the imagination of our chef.

The selections are different every night and embrace the flavours of the sea and the land in a combination of lightness and authentic tastes.

A menu made up of raw ingredients selected from local production at KM 0 and among the best of Italian excellence, accompanied by wines selected with the same care and the same approach to the region.

The kitchen is balanced in calories, but full of flavours, able to satisfy even the most demanding palates.

The many awards that Hotel Barracuda has gained over the years witness the recognition of quality.
