General

A very quaint bed and breakfast set within a medieval walled hilltop village just 18 km from Lucca and about midway between Florence and Pisa. The village dates back to the 13th century and still retains much of its original charm; the ground floor of the property dates back to the 14th century and the upper floors are from the 16th/17th century.

The intimate property is run by two ladies. The bedrooms all have private facilities and a fan for use during the hot summer. Each of the bedrooms is named after a different spice, reflecting the history of the house – it was used by a local pharmacist whose laboratory was here until the early 19th century.

There are both double and triple rooms and an extra bed can be added.

The elevation provides spectacular views over the surrounding plains, which are cultivated with vines and olives, both of which produce high quality products. Originally this was a white wine area, however now it also produces good quality DOC red wines.

This provides an excellent opportunity to enjoy authentic Tuscany, public transport here is pretty poor, so a car is really needed. Being only 5km from the motorway junction, this is an ideal place to use as a base for touring.
