Midway between Pisa and Florence in the region of Pistoia. Montecatini is a spa town where the world’s royalty and famous stars have all visited and where they have all enjoyed its waters. One of the town’s most famous visitors was Giuseppe Verdi.
Montecatini has beautiful parklands, buildings and two railway stations with services to Florence via Pistoia and Prato as well as to Viareggio via Lucca and Pisa.
Tettuccio is a wold famous spa building here, it is in the liberty style architecture. There are often evening concerts held here.
Directly behind the town is Montecatini Alto, this is where the origins of the town began in Roman times and continued into the medieval period. This is ideally reached using the funicular railway.
